Sing Up Country on Australia Day

Developed in consultation with Eora and Darug community leaders and language experts, this event will launch what might be a very different Australia Day in 2017. Jacinta Tobin will lead Choir Rocks amongst the 250 voices singing Budjari Gunyalungalung Baraya-la (Let’s Sing Good Dreaming) at 8am on top of Barangaroo Reserve. This is part of a sharing and celebration of the Indigenous heritage of Sydney, the Bayala-Baraya: Sing Up Country program to reawaken and reforge the songlines of Sydney in a performance for Country, ancestors and healing. See this link for details of tomorrow’s WugulOra Morning Ceremony.

Singing Good Dreaming on Australia day at Barangaroo Reserve was a moving and special way of remembering and sharing the indigenous heritage of Sydney. This is one of the most worthwhile Australia Days I have been fortunate to be part of. I am very thankful to Jacinta Tobin for the experience she created for all of us to share and I hope that this the way forward for us all.
