How can the government play around with elderly residents of millers point like they were pieces on a board game. These are people who should be left in peace to live out their lives without fear. I believe the government is only interested in making millions of dollars with these sales. They are destroying Sydney’s heritage, I wonder how many foreign investors will owe a part of modern Australian history?
The decision to evict all social housing tenants in Millers Point, Dawes Point and The Rocks appeared to be taken so rashly that it is possible the government did not consider the the effects of their decision on the elderly and vulnerable, but their Relocation Team seems to be determined to move people out at any cost, and the government has so far refused to even talk to the community. It seems only public opinion might convince the government to enter into some sort of dialogue with residents, but could this happen?
